IEC 60601-1-8 governs how audible alarms are used in medical equipment. The most up-to-date specification is now IEC 60601-1-8 AMD2 (2020). The main change in this new specification is that AMD2 (2020) removes the melody tones (Annex F) from the previous version and adds sound file melodies to use instead. IEC 60601-1-8 AMD2 (2020) does allow for all previous general medical tones to continue to be used.
The SBS Series is a 45 mm in diameter and produces 100dB @ 10cm@12Vdc. The SBT Series is also 45mm in diameter, but utilizes a piezoelectric transducer to reduce the current to very low levels. SBT models produce 90dB @ 10 cm @ 5 Vdc & 12Vdc.
